How to get Your Music to go Viral Using Memes

Getting eyes and ears on you as an underground artist proves to be a more difficult task as time goes on. There’s always a new trend to follow or someone going viral over some troll music. Well what if I told you there was a simple and free way to farm views using your songs? Using what I call the “meme method”, it can provide you with the solution you might be looking for.

To better explain what I’m talking about, I’m going to be using upcoming artist TPG Stax as an example. You see this artist has hit milestones like going viral and having his song played on I’m Dontai’s stream because of the use of his track on a plethora of memes. All he had to do was just consistently post his songs behind some funny videos.

As you’ve probably heard from many creators and artists themselves, consistency is key. A lot of artists don’t take the time to put their audio on videos and post them as not every video may get the views they desire, but that’s why it’s all about posting until you finally get the one that hits. That’s what TPG Stax did. Looking at his feed you’ll notice not every video he posts goes viral but all he needed was one and got his music played on I’m Dontai’s stream without having to pay a dime.

Even though it may not have been a review of the track, the music still got out to thousands of listeners who may have asked themselves “hm I wonder what that track playing was called?”. Building up that mentality is exactly what you want to go for when having your music played behind memes. You want audiences to see the meme and laugh to the point where they’re rewatching and hopefully get the attention drawn to your music. To pull this off, here are some tips to use the meme method to its full potential.

  • Make sure the song you’re using goes with a niche. If your song has some rage then use a crazy video, if it’s calmer then use more subtle videos. Find memes that match the vibe of your song.

  • Post at least one reel a day if not more. Remember consistency is key, the less you post means the less chance you have of going viral. Don’t overdo it either as you’ll lose followers if you spam too much content.

  • If you don’t want to flood your account with reels of memes because you want to keep up a certain aesthetic then make a backup account. Having a backup account allows you to use one account for reels and one account for looks. It’s also good to have a backup account anyways in case something happens to your main (botting, banning, or getting hacked). Make sure you have all the information that leads to your main and music on your backup’s bio.

  • Be patient and don’t be discouraged if you’re videos aren’t doing well. Although it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try alternatives, eventually you’ll have something that will spike. Social media is all about ups and downs, you can’t expect to always have your views up, sometimes you have to take a slight dip in order to rise even higher.

  • You can pay blog or meme pages to post your music with memes and get some attention that way but many artists have found success with the meme method just on their own account. It’s not necessary or needed to pay other accounts but it does give you a little boost in publicity.

Other then that, the best way to find out if the meme method works for you is to try it out and experiment. It’s nothing complicated and all it takes is a little time out your day that can lead to a big change.
